Number Plate Recognition – in a previous email we said we do not have the budget this year to implement this system.  However, we are continuing to explore options that Mamba have recently presented us to us.

Financial – most of the meeting was taken up by this subject.  Over the past year we have seen a trend downwards from 440 members to about 420 members.  Last month we had 414 contributions – 21 contributions failed due to EFT’s not being done and debits returned.  If this continues we will be looking at a loss of about R30k for the year.
The bulk of the downward trend problem lies with new residents.  The previous owner contributed but the new owners do not.  If new owners wish to preserve the security of the suburb, their homes and families as well as the value of their homes then they need to realise that this comes at a cost.  Please reconsider and join the closure.
We do continue to approach new residents but if you have a new neighbour please let them know about the closure and the benefits – we need all the help we can get.
There have been some discussions about the park located at the end of Edendale Rd which borders on Palliser.  There are some issues with vagrants as well as noise problems.  There was a proposal to include the park in the closure, the committee has reviewed this and believe this option is not practical as it will require extensive capital costs to implement and, at this point, we do not have the operational budget to maintain the park.  We also believe that our application to council to do this, given the general anti closure attitude in council, would fail.
The old age home that borders this park has wanted nothing to do with the closure so it is also likely that they would not support the application and they certainly would not contribute to the capital and operational costs.
We are concerned about our residents that border onto this park and we need to explore other solutions to the current issues.  For this reason we invite any/all of those residents to attend a meeting to see if we can, together, come up with anything practical.  If you live in this area please can you let me know if you would be willing to attend such a meeting.

Remember to always maintain a high level of awareness, especially when you are leaving or entering your home/driveway.  Please tell your family and domestic workers to also be on the lookout.  Report all suspicious behaviour to Mamba control room (tel number below) and warn the residents using @ESRCAlert.
