This afternoon (1/11/2019) the following alert was posted at 13:27 on one of the Mamba Emergency Groups –

“Our neighbours have been held up and robbed – they are linked to SOS – Marret Ave, white bakkie, white male driver with 7 black males, held up the gardener to get in”

Mamba had already informed the Committee of this incident at 13:04 and was attending the scene to see if they could offer assistance.

As the resident is not a Mamba client or a road closure contributor it has been difficult to establish the details of what happened.  We can inform residents of the following –

The criminals – 1 European male (we were told he is bald but can’t confirm) and 7 African males gained access to the property by threatening the gardener who was working outside the property on the street. They forced the gardener to open the gate and gained access to the property.  Occupants were tied up and items (at this point we don’t know what items) were stolen.  No one was hurt.

We can’t confirm this but apparently the criminals knew what they were after an where it was.

Initially we were told the criminals were in a white bakkie but on further investigation by Mamba it was determined that the criminals were driving a white Hyundai panel van.  We have drawn several pictures of the vehicle and the registration from our camera system.  We can’t divulge this information as it has been handed over to the SAPS investigator for confirmation.  In the meantime the registration number has been loaded onto Mamba’s camera system which operates throughout many suburbs in the Edenvale area.

If you see this vehicle, with multiple occupants, in our area, please phone Mamba immediately.

Remember to always maintain a high level of awareness, especially when you are leaving or entering your home/driveway.  Please tell your family and domestic workers to also be on the lookout.  Report all suspicious behaviour to Mamba control room (tel number below) and warn the residents using the Mamba Whatsapp Security Group and/or @ESRCAlert.
