Dear Residents

We trust that everyone is managing to get through these challenging times and hope that everyone comes out the other end unscathed. The Road Closure Association understands the importance of maintaining the security of our suburb at the same high levels as in the past and the Committee is working extremely hard to continue to operate as previously.

This has not been easy and there are a few matters that we’d like to bring to your attention. – The Committee has made the decision not to implement the usual annual increase (normally from 1 March).  This decision was not taken lightly as it has far-reaching effects on the budget of the RCA but in an effort to show solidarity with residents and to not add further to their financial burden, it was agreed that the subsequent loss incurred could be absorbed for a few months.   This situation will be monitored closely and the increase may be implemented later in the year if life returns to normal.

– The Committee has negotiated with its suppliers and service providers, including Mamba, and no increase will be given to them while these unusual times exist.

– Mamba has agreed to keep all their current services in place for which we thank them for their ongoing support to our Closure.

It cannot be emphasised enough that the Road Closure needs the financial (and other) support of the residents to maintain all the current Closure and security services.     The income received from levies during the month of April decreased by R8 000, due to non-payment by some contributors.  We do not wish to do away with any single activity, such as security services (guarding and dedicated vehicle), maintenance, accounting, garden service, etc. but if the current trend continues, the status quo will become unsustainable and the situation will have to be reviewed.

We don’t need to remind residents of the importance of maintaining security for you and your families but we would like to encourage each and every one of you to continue to contribute towards keeping the Road Closure up and running, and to keep your monthly levy payments up to date, if possible.

If you are experiencing financial difficulties and wish to reduce your monthly contribution for a while, please let us know. A big thank you to those residents who have volunteered to help with the infra-structure checks.  This is a crucial part of maintaining our security in these times where criminal activities in general are on the increase. And of course, thank you to those residents who continue to support the Closure and are making their regular monthly contributions.

Stay safe out there. The Committee

Remember to always maintain a high level of awareness, especially when you are leaving or entering your home/driveway.  Please tell your family and domestic workers to also be on the lookout.  Report all suspicious behaviour to Mamba control room (tel number below) and warn the residents using the Mamba Whatsapp Security Group.
